Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

Through August 31, 2014, the Naples Zoo is offering special animal training sessions. New this summer are twice-daily animal training sessions in Safari Canyon Theatre. This is a great chance for kids to get up close and personal while watching how the zoo trains animals and enriches their lives. Just imagine getting to see a coati mundi or a serval kitten, both new to the Zoo. After their training is over, these trainees will take part in the daily Safari Canyon Feature Show, that is held daily at 11:45 a.m.

Exclusive to the Naples Zoo, the Safari Canyon open-air theater presents animal trainers with live animals from exotic cats to more unusual wild animals up close and personal. You will also see wildlife clips and close up views on the live cam while live animals exhibit their natural behaviors in their own habitats. It’s best to get there a little early to learn wildlife trivia, fun nature facts and conservation data.

The Zoo offers a full day of fun activities for people of all ages. Paved paths wind through tropical gardens and exotic plants that date back in time. You will see many animals like lions, kangaroos, lemurs, and bears and even more rarely seen animals like an Asian deer or fossa of Madagascar. Listen closely to the loud, wild sounds coming from the monkeys and apes on their own private islands while taking the Primate Expedition Cruise. You can feed a giraffe, watch alligators being fed, run around on the playgrounds or cool down with a frozen chocolate covered banana. For more information go to www.napleszoo.com, they also have a free newsletter that you can sign up for.

A little known fact is you can purchase items online through the Zoo at places like Amazon, Office Depot and Babies R Us, and these businesses will contribute a portion of their profit to the Zoo. What a great way to buy what you want and help the Zoo at the same time.

To show appreciation for the police, paramedics, TSA, and firefighters (both active and retired) who help keep everyone safe will receive free admission with the use of an online coupon along with identification from their workplace. Other guests in their party will also receive $2 off the regular admission. This is in effect from August 1 – 31, 2014.
